An Ipsos MORI poll for the BBC Horizon programme in January 2006 showed that less than half of Britons accept the theory of evolution. More than 40% believe that creationism or intelligent design should be taught in school science lessons.
Over 2,000 participants took part in the survey, and were asked what best described their view of the origin and development of life:
- 22% chose creationism
- 17% opted for intelligent design
- 48% selected evolution theory
- and the rest did not know.
When given a choice of three descriptions for the development of life on Earth, people were asked which one or ones they would like to see taught in science lessons in British schools:
- 44% said creationism should be included
- 41% intelligent design
- 69% wanted evolution as part of the science curriculum.
This showed a support for creationism and Intelligent Design that greatly surprised many in the media and educational establishments that tend to be hostile to Biblical belief.
However it is unsurprising to Biblical Creationists who have read the first 3 verses of Psalm 19. The Darwin Party may control the TV, radio, press, universities and schools, but God broadcasts knowledge of his existence and attributes as Creator 24 hours a day.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; theskies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech, night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language, where their voice is not heard.”
Psalm 19 vv 1-3 (NIV)
